A hardtop model was introduced in 1999.
The 1999 and 2000 Hardtop is distinquishable from the 2001 through 2004 Z06 by the lack of a brake cooling duct located ahead of the rear wheels as well as the absence of Z06 badges.
2000
There were no external differences between the 1999 and 2000 Corvette model years.
2001
2001 was the first year for the C5 Z06. All 2001 through 2004 hardtop Corvettes were Z06 optioned.
Z06 identity cues, below left: Wire mesh screen signified the external intake for the rear brake cooling. The same wire mesh protected the front air intake. Middle: Distinctive star shaped aluminum wheels, exclusive to the Z06, were 1.0 inches wider than on the coupe or convertible. Right: brake calipers were painted red.
Below: Z06 fender badge.
There were no external differences between the 2001 coupe and convertible and the other C5 model years.
2002
