1977 Corvette in Medium Red
1977 Corvette luggage rack
1977 was another year of minimal changes. Above: a new luggage rack (RPO V54; $73.00) was an available option. It was designed to accommodate the removable roof panels, freeing up some interior storage space. Glass roof panels were listed as an option (RPO CC1) but none were sold. They were available as an aftermarket "Moon Roof". An eight track tape player with AM-FM stereo (RPO UM2; $414.00) become a popular option.

1977 to 1082 Corvettes at 50th anniversary event Right, bottom to top: 1977 to 1982 Corvette line up. These were tough years for the Corvette - and all car manufacturers - as smog regulations had sapped much of the performance (and some say soul) of America's sports car. For this reason, the mid '70s to early '80s are not considered to be premier collectables by the Corvette community. But there is an upside to the situation. If you're looking to make a Corvette part of your life and your budget cannot accommodate one of the blue chip 'vettes, there is hope. Corvettes of this vintage do have a lot to offer at very reasonable prices.

the clean air act of 1970 stole the power from the american muscle / sports cars. this car is a great choice for a classical american sports car. i have an orange corvette and i paid only 5000 dollars for it. great car but don't expect an automatic transmition(unless it has been updated later and is no longer stock).

I wonder how they came about with that color for 1977, the only time it ever appeared on a Vette and they only made one of them! Talk about a collectors item :-) I suppose they had difficulty in making the paint or applying it (perhaps faded faster than anticipated?) so they scrapped it. Would be interesting to track this one-of-a-kind model down!

How can you tell how many black 77 were made with Red interior?

Don't know how they delivered a 1977 car to Jimi Hendrix...he died in1970!
#7 - Mike - 08/14/2012 - 20:30

1977 Corvette
The easiest way to spot a 77 Corvette is by looking at the flags on the hood. The 1977 is the only year from the C3 Gen that the flags are not crossed.

Bought a 1977 Vet in great condition, put in new rugs (black) as the interior is red & the older rugs red (to much red).
Vet is Silver with Charcole grey bottom. It's in the paint shop now getting a new look (same color) but with ghost fire.
I don't drive it much as when behind the wheel I want to step on the gas & fly.
Love the 77's

I really like the 1977 Corvette Out of the C3's the 1977 is the only one the does not have the crossed flags hood ornament and since they did this only one year in the 70's they are easy to pick out. Of the C3 generation the 1977 vettes are probably the most affordable. a truly awesome car.
