A New Beginning

1963 is the most significant Corvette model year.

There is a lot to back up that bold statement. The changes seen were revolutionary. About the only thing up for debate is which is the most significant: The chassis engineering or the body style.

The styling changes alone were earth shattering. If a UFO landed next to a Corvette when it was introduced in 1963 it could have garnered more attention, but maybe not. It had an aggressiveness that still would not be considered brutal, all the while featuring improved aerodynamics.

The chassis also saw significant changes, so there was a lot more going on in 1963 than just an updated shape. The new independent rear suspension made a huge difference in every performance area, with improved ride and driving experience as part of the bargain.

Great Corvette

Yeah, the 1963 is the best Corvette. Too bad I wasn't smart enough to buy one when I could afford it.

Hot Cars and Hot Girls

I love the 63 Vette because that was the year I was born and also the look is still revolutionary. Besides a new ZR1 this is the one Vette I would want to aquire.

I know the sebring silver / red interior was rare for '63, but does anyone know just how many left the factory with this combo ?

I love how the 63 is cool because that year was the only time they would produce the Stingray with a split window, amazing

I am considering buying a 63 vette it appears to have the wrong hood no vents also the shifter appears to be wrong it is tall with no reverse lock out How bad do these items effect value Thx

Those items affect the value a lot. My bet is that there are a long list of other items that are not correct.

It all depends on what you want and how much $$$ you intend to spend. If the price is right and you want to buy something to drive and enjoy then it might be the car for you. Just keep doing your research. See my Up Close look at my '68 Corvette for more on how to shop for a Corvette.
